Personal InterestsIoT: Like any techie, I love writing code that manipulates the real world. I've been automating things around the house using Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and other embedded platforms since I was a kid — and contribute to several open source sensor libraries on GitHub.
Public Speaking & Code Mentoring: Growing up in a small town didn't give me many opportunities to learn programming in a structured environment with others — I had to teach myself to be self sufficient and self taught. This is why I'm passionate about giving anyone, from young kids to older professionals, a chance to learn how to code. I currently volunteer as an instructor and mentor with the Learn Code LA program, and give presentations on new development methodologies at the Santa Monica New Tech developer conference. Powersports: Ever since I got my first car I was hooked on going fast. Since then, I've taken up everything from road courses at the race track to autocrosses all over the country. I currently attend events in my BMW 335i through the BMW CCA and SCCA, and am working on building a KTM RC 390 track bike. |
